Stewardship Awards Celebration

25th Anniversary Stewardship Awards Celebration
May 1, 2008, 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Monona Terrace, Madison
Dinner ticket: $40 ($45 at the door)

Established in 1983 as a not-for-profit organization to preserve a section of woodlands along the shore of Lake Mendota, the Natural Heritage Land Trust is a leader in protecting natural areas and agricultural lands in the Dane County region.

We have accomplished a great deal over the past 25 years. We helped to establish public parks at Black Earth Creek, Cross Plains, Fish Lake, and Waunakee. We conserved an important link in the Nine Springs E-Way and Capital City Trail. We protected 21 working farms contributing to the agricultural economy. We helped safeguard Token Creek, Cherokee Marsh, and Patrick Marsh. In December 2007, the Land Trust crossed the 5,000-acre mark in terms of total land protected.

To commemorate our 25th anniversary this year, the Natural Heritage Land Trust is hosting the Stewardship Awards Celebration, May 1, 2008, 5:30 pm at Monona Terrace. The evening will be one of recognizing stewardship, dinner, and networking. We expect more than 150 people to attend the event. This year, we will honor these four conservation leaders:

  1. Pat Hitchcock for her exemplary role in the stewardship of Donald County Park in the southwestern portion of Dane County;
  2. Bill Lunney for his continuing legacy of conservation work in Dane County;
  3. Bill O'Connor for his instrumental role in the founding of the Natural Heritage Land Trust, Gathering Waters Conservancy and the land trust movement in Wisconsin; and
  4. Swamplovers, otherwise known as Jerry Goth, Tom Kuehn and Lee Swanson, for establishing a landmark conservation area along the Ice Age National Scenic Trail in the Black Earth Creek valley.

We hope you will join us for the 25th Anniversary Stewardship Awards Celebration! The evening includes mingling, dinner, Stewardship Awards presentation, and silent auction. If you would like to receive an invitation to the celebration, please send your name and address to us at info@nhlt.org. If you would like more information, please call us at 608-258-9797.
